My First Month in Josh Makador’s Cyber Range
Hi! My name’s Zach and at the moment I work in a warehouse. I don’t plan on staying there forever and I have a strict goal to get out by June 2025.
As of February 2025, I initially wanted to take the Comptia Security+ later this month but frankly I don’t feel like I’m ready and I don’t want to buy another retake just in case I don’t pass it. So I’m in the process of rescheduling my exam date. I also pivoted more towards job search related activities so I will be getting ready to do that next week.
At $97 per month Josh’s program was a little steep. But I bit the bullet and signed up mid January and here I am, roughly 1 month later giving my review.
There were four things I liked about his Cyber Range:
- The videos are easy to follow and he has a split screen where you can see text of the steps to follow. I like to think of this as building legos except you’re working with a computer.
- For the past 6 months I (still) don’t have data for my phone so I couldn’t sign up for Microsoft Azure. This was why I couldn’t finish Course Career’s labs. What Josh did may or may not be profitable but for someone like me, I took full advantage of what he provided.
- There’s an optional internship component so you can add experience on your resume. Like I said, I am about to job search soon and at the moment I haven’t reached this aspect of the program yet. But if I do I will report back on how beneficial it was.
- There’s a very supportive community. Everybody is always positive and I’ve seen people give help on technical problems as well as resume advice.
In Closing
I highly recommend signing up for this program. Once I get my first IT job hopefully I can attribute Josh to my success.
