Applying a Tim Ferriss Exercise to Cybersecurity
Tim’s an interesting individual to say the least. He’s written multiple books, my personal favorite being his 4 Hour Work Week. I want to talk about his article: Fear-Setting: The Most Valuable Exercise I Do Every Month.
Lately I’ve been slacking in that department but 2 weeks ago I did my fear setting exercise by signing up for the Comptia Security+ exam for next month. I won’t lie, I don’t feel like I’m ready and I might push the exam back another month because I frankly had enough with my current job as a warehouse associate. In other words, I’m just going to test the market and see if companies are interested in hiring me as a help desk techician. I initially had my heart set on doing SOC analyst work but I am at my wit’s end right now.
Can you blame me? I just couldn’t see myself putting my body on the line for the next 3 years. I got tired of waking up at 6AM to make the 1 hour drive to work and then make drive back home.
What’s your fear setting exercise for this month? Start a new career? Set a date for a tough exam? Let me know in the comments!
